Latvian students discuss migration

Last week Latvian students were watching stories about Ali and Julianne. After watching the videos students raised some serious questions and thoughts about what it is like to be away from family and home. Following was the discussion. We found out that if we would have to move to a different country majority would move to America. We talked about history when Latvians also had to seek refuge and the reasons why it happened. Students found the main reason why it is necessary for children like Ali and Julianne to flee their homes. We compared our likes, dislikes and fears with refuge children and concluded that we are very similar and we have to get to know each other better. At the end of the discussion the students wrote acronym poems which reflected the compassion and understanding towards refugees.
